1.4.8 UC/PBX clients

1.4.8 UC/PBX clients

The UC/PBX client is a compound type which consists of the main account and its subaccounts. The UC stands for Unified Communication and this type is intended for business customers which deploy UC services within an organization.

The menu is divided on UC\PBX clients and UC\PBX sub-accounts. The clients are companies. There can be many company accounts as the system supports so called multitenant UCPBX services. Each company has one primary account. Sub-accounts are accounts for users (employees) and must be always associated with one company account.

Note: the company account is an admin account, with permissions allowing to access configuration functions not available for sub-accounts. At the same time the admin account is a sub-account and therefore can use all the functions available for this type.

In the system, when a new company account is created, both UC/PBX client account and a subaccount with the same name is created.

The company account has a balance which is shared by all subaccounts. The same is with plans – they can be used by all subaccounts. Subaccounts do not have own balance.

When subaccount is making a call or sending SMS the rating is done based on the tariff assigned to the company account. You cannot assign a tariff to a subaccount.

The admin subaccount can log in to the VUC and manage the company account, configure the PBX features and add new subaccounts.

Subaccounts can also log in to the VUC but will not have the admin menus shown.

The detailed descriptions of the UCPBX services and the VUC are in the dedicated chapter under this link

The main panel differs from other type as there are two additional columns in the clients’ list – Company and Max clients. Also the search panel adds a new search option by a company name.

The edit panel divides into fours tabs:

  • General
  • Profile
  • Branches
  • Company structure

The General tab is the same as for the other types with the only difference which is the company field which contain the name of the company, it is the identifier of the account.

Profile tab has two additional fields Company name 1 and Company name 2.

Branches

The Branches tab lets us divide the company on branches. Each branch has its own prefix, usually two digits number. Each sub-accounts must belong to at least one branch and can belong to many branches at the same time. BY default there is always one branch named Default with branch prefix 10.

Calling between users and extensions

If you call from user A to user B using their usernames (logins) it does not matter if they belong to the same branch or not.

When you call using extensions (short numbers) you have to know how to use branch prefixes. Extensions are assigned to sub-accounts. They are composed from digits and have length four. There can be many extensions for one sub-account. If the destination extension is in the same branch as originating extension the branch prefix can be omitted.

For example client A with extension 1111 calls another client B with extension 2222.  If A and B are in the same branch they can dial each other using extensions only.

If they are in different branches, for example A is in the branch named Sales with prefix 30 while B is in Support with prefix 20 then they should dial as follows:

Client A will call 20*2222 and B will call 30*1111. If they are in the same branch they can call with or without the branch prefixes: A calls 2222 and B calls 1111.

Subaccounts

The list of all subaccounts is in a separate menu under UCPBX Clients\subaccounts. You can see the logins and associated PBX clients.

Also when creating a new account you have to specify to which PBX client it will belong. The edit view is limited as there are no billing details.

There is an additional checkbox in the Advanced tab - Block outbound PBX calls which allows to limit a client to the calls within the company only.

Subaccounts can be added from this menu and also from the company accounts edit panel by clicking on More button then Create subaccount action. A new dialog will appear, you can opt there to import the subaccounts from a file.

If you choose generation the next screens will allow you to specify all the subaccount related parameters which will be set in the newly created accounts.
