2.1 Overview

Click here for a "how to" on the basic setup of the UC/PBX platform.

The platform consists of:

  •    Voipswitch main package – a class 5 softswitch with integrated billing.
  •    Voipswitch Unified Communication (VUC) portal – a self-care portal for a company users, combining management functions with communication tools
  •    Provisioning server – a web platform responsible for auto provisioning smartphone clients (UC apps) and hardware VoIP devices (ATAs)
  •    UC apps – mobile softphones offering RCS (Rich communication suite) services for the company users

Each enterprise customer is represented by a company account. There is no limits in number of companies hosted on the platform. Each company is completely isolated with own numbering plan and extensions.

A company account is always associated with an admin account. It is a regular user account with special rights allowing to configure PBX functions and add users belonging to the company, later referred to as subaccounts.

UC company account and subaccounts can be created and configured through the VSM admin portal which is part of the voipswitch main package. Access to the VSM has the platform’s administrator (service provider). When the service is offered through resellers they also will have access to the VSM although it will be limited to certain menus.

Subaccounts for a company can also be created and managed by the company admin user through the VUC portal.

The PBX related functions can be configured only through VUC portal. They are explained in details in the VUC chapter.
