1.4.2 Route types
The system can route calls to different types of endpoints:
An endpoint communicated directly by the IP or FQDN, e.q. a termination carrier, SIP trunk, a PSTN gateway
Same as the gateway type with the difference that voipswitch has to register to it
DNS server which changes the phone number to SIP URI of its owner
a database query or http request, their result replaces the original phone number or username called
triggers callback calls
Retail client | A user, can be either specified by the login or through the user lookup in the location database |
IVR scenarios, used for calling cards services, UC/PBX services, but also for features like voicemail
The first five types (Gateway, Registrar, Lookup, Callback route) have additional configuration per instance and hence there are additional menus under the Destinations to manage them. The Retail client type points always to a client endpoint. The Voipbox type points to a Voipbox’s scenario which is chosen in the routing plan. The properties of the scenario itself is defined in the Voipbox files.
